Over the Holidays, i was inspired to start a new shot. I took a clip form Goonies i've always wanted to do, edited the crap out of the audio and came up with what i hope is a fun situation. The shot is still a beast at almost 500 frames, but it doesn't feel that long (in playback anyway...) The idea is the kid is confessing his sins to a mall Santa to get off the naughty list. Let me know what y'all think! Feedback is most welcome! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19304158/WorstThing_BLOCKING%2B_v035.mov
Oh yah. Guess I'm doing this again too! I started getting up in just working on my new shot and neglecting my gesture sketching and Pose A Days. It's easy to get caught up in a shot, but i have to remember that this stuff (gesture sketches and pose a day) is equally important to my growth as an animator.
Wow. So it's been a pretty super long time since I've posted anything. I've been far from slacking in other avenues, but this blog has been seriously neglected. I'm just now trying to fall back into the routine.
So I've been up in Portland, Or since just before Thanksgiving. For the first month I was working at Bent Image Lab on an awesome project that should be airing soon in Europe! I can't wait to sneak that into my reel. Unfortunately, the show didn't go as long as it was supposed too and the second contract i was on ended up outsourcing to Spain so I've been left with a lot of free time. My next contract doesn't start up until February, but hopefully there will be lots more to come. Sounds like they're ramping up big time for a lot of fun stuff! In the meantime, my wife and I have been exploring the area and I've been working like a madman on my new reel. I started a new shot over the holidays (I'll post Work In Progress in the next post) i have a bunch of other shots i never finished, another new one i wanna start and some of the professional work I've done at Bent. I'm hoping to have a new reel rocking by May an then it's time to flood the studios again and cross my fingers. This weekend I'm heading back home to SF for my graduation ceremony from Animation Mentor. Can't wait to see all my buddies from around the world as well as my family back home! In any case, I'm sick of sitting around on my butt, so i hope to get this blog back in shape and sharing my adventures with you! |
